Using Veneer in Kitchen: Why or Why not?

Whether it’s for a modular kitchen in Vadodara, or Ahmedabad, or any other city in the country, while many people choose to go the solid wood-way, when it comes to deciding on the raw material to use in their modular kitchens, there are other lower-end options like plastic, metal, or veneer that are inexpensive, and fairly good.

Not as high priced as solid wood, veneer proves to be a much lower investment option, especially when it is for people who are buying their house for the very first time. It fits the budgets of people, quite easily.

Unlike wood, which is harvested, veneer is manufactured, and hance you many design options that you can go for. With pieces of veneer designed in a way that they showcase different kinds of wood finishes – even sometimes looking a little exotic than actual wood – you won’t find the same thing with solid wood.

With veneer, you will find a more uniform finish that will be easier to use if you choose to add the veneer-made furniture to an already decorated room. The veneer furniture is easier to match to other pieces.

The problem with veneer though is that manufacturers usually use particle board or MDF or some other such materials to provide a strong core to the furniture, and then use veneer, While it’s not such a bad thing, as these different materials mixed with glue and chemicals beneath the surface, makes the furniture itself much lighter and more manageable – it also makes it too vulnerable to get damaged easily. And often, the damages can’t be repaired.

Modular Kitchens: Types of Filters

It goes without saying, that chimneys are such an integral part of every kitchen, whether or not modular. A chimney is nothing without its filter. And to know which chimney would suit your kitchen the best, to know which chimney would you like to get from your modular kitchen supplier in Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, or any other city, you’d need to know about the filters that are used in them.

Mesh Filter
The name of this filter comes from the fact that it has layers of Aluminium that overlap each other. The holes in the mesh are really small, letting pass air which brings with it grime and oil, that sticks to the filter. This is why a mesh filters need regular cleaning with soap and warm water, at least every fortnight, as they get clogged, affecting the chimney’s performance, reducing the suction power of the chimney. Mesh filter, especially in Indian homes, where the food is cooked with many spices, is a bit high maintenance.

Baffle Filter
Just like mesh filter, this one too has layers of aluminium (or steel) overlapped with each other; but unlike a mesh filter, the layers overlap in a way that changes the direction of airflow. Great for Indian kitchens, baffle filter separates oil and spices from the smoke, making use of ‘cut and chop’ technology. And so, the suction power of the chimney isn’t affected much at all. When it comes to cleaning, it needs to be cleaned every 5 to 6 months. It does get rusted with use, and after 4 to 5 years, the filter would need to be changed.

Charcoal Filters
Very good to absorb odor, this one, just like the name says, uses a block with charcoal granules. The size of those granules and the filter’s thickness is what decides the absorption capacity. Used in ductless chimneys, you might not find these in the in-built ones, but you could get them by paying an extra cost for them. Every 3 to 6 months, depending on how much cooking takes place in the kitchen, you would need to replace the filter, as it can’t be washed.

Modular Kitchen Cabinets: Are they Really a Smart Purchase?

We live in a world that is less than perfect. In an ideal world, we would have wanted to have cabinets that were custom-made and custom-fitted. But, instead we see the modular kitchen cabinet industry growing at a really great pace.

People all over are going for the modular option. Not just a phenomenon outside of India, but even our country is seeing this unprecedented growth. Taking the state of Gujarat itself, the concept of modular kitchens in Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, and other major cities is getting more and more established by the day – and so is the idea of modular kitchen cabinets.

Here are a few reasons for the growing popularity of modular kitchen cabinets, and the dwindling demand of the alternatives:

  • Because the other option is to go for cabinets that are custom-made. These are the kind that make it difficult to renovate the kitchen afterwards – you’d have chosen cabinets that would perfectly match the interiors of your kitchen – and when you go for a total revamp, you would probably not able to use those same cabinets.
  • Also, they are too expensive; it is difficult to afford the kind of artistic flair that these custom-made cabinets are able to showcase. And it’s even more burdensome on your pockets, because you know that a renovation in the future will further stress your wallet.
  • But, even though our world might not be the absolute perfection that we might expect it to be at times, it is still fabulous! At least when it comes to the cabinetry we use in our kitchens, we sure do have a fantastic alternative!
  • Modular kitchen cabinets are the answer to this. For so much less than the kind of money that you would have to spend otherwise, modular kitchen cabinets would give you an option that would be a great fit for your kitchen.
  • These are the kind of cabinets that are ready to get installed as soon as you them out of their ‘boxes’. They are your best friends when it comes to renovating your kitchen – because they’ll easily blend in with a new set of interiors.
  • Available in so many different colors, sizes, and designs, you will be spoilt for choices! With the right choices, you will be easily able to create a luxurious and custom-made high-end look with modular kitchen cabinets too. With designs available for all kinds of looks – contemporary, modern, rustic, classic, and what not – you won’t find yourself with a dearth of options, ever.

An ideal world, as we were discussing, would probably have people leaning more towards a more high-end cabinetry. But, it’s good that we’re not living in that ideal world – or we wouldn’t have found something as effective, as aesthetically pleasing, and a lot more maintenance-free, at a far lower price!
